A solar eclipse is coming, but to see it you'll need certified safe solar eclipse glasses. Here's where to buy them and how to check that any old pairs you have are safe.

A partial solar eclipse will be visible in the Washington DC area on August 12. When will it happen, and how much of the sun will be covered?

On 12 August, the world will be able to watch a solar eclipse, as the Moon moves in front of the Sun and blocks out its light. As well as making for a stunning show in the sky, viewers will be treated to the eerie effect as the sky goes dark and the air cools.
